The Doctor and the Clown — Miwok

Although they appear as opponents, the poison doctor and the clown are partners. The clown, painted white, enters the circle dancing, making obscene gestures, and calling “Woo!” The clown knows that he’s unkillable. The poison doctor dances to meet him, tossing dust into his eyes. They leap and dodge each other’s arrows, but the doctor makes the clown bleed at the mouth. The doctor’s power is hard to dodge. The doctor calls forth flames and flying lizards from the air. The clown has a seizure and dies until later when the doctor revives him. Later, the doctor pays him for his pains.
