More like a basket than a boat, this small roundish frame of willow or hazel branches covered with animal hide, could carry and be carried by a Welsh or Scottish fisherman, or in a fairytale a runaway child might steal a coracle to paddle across a forbidden loch only to be grabbed by the kelpie, and dragged into the dark water, leaving only entrails to float ashore.
