At his studio, Emest was painting panels featuring his city’s architectural ornaments arranged like Mozart’s Jupiter symphony, he said, and that, when assembled, would be the size of a building. In his afternoons, however, when the weather was fair, he sat with his easel along the Kaipromenade painting scenes of the park to sell to tourists.
