Some people say animals and people are alike. Others say animals are like children. People may not be owned, but children may be. Children are not responsible for their own care; their families or the state must make decisions and provide for them. The lines are not clear. Animals in zoos, children in cribs, animals in nature preserves, children in school. If children may be owned, then other animals may also be, and you must treat them as you would treat children.
