Samuel François Gauthier was born in 1600 in Belle-et-Houllefort, Departement du Pas-de-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France. He married Hilaire Hélène Gourlatier in 1643, Notre-Dame de Celles-Sur-Belle, Niort, Deux Sevres, Poitiers, Vienne, Poitou-Charentes. Hilaire was born in 1604 in Belle-et-Houllefort, and died 9 December 1700, Poitou-Charentes, France. These were Virginie Agnis Gauthier’s sixth great-grandparents. Samuel died on 24 October 1663 at Sainte-Famille, L’Île Orleans, Québec. They had three children, including a son, Joseph Élie Gauthier. Joseph was also born in France, 11 October 1643, Niort, Deux-Sevres, Poitou-Charentes, came to Québec in 1663. He married Marguerite Moitie on 24 October 1663, in Chateau-Richer, and had twelve children. He died in Québec, 9 December 1700, Sainte-Famille, L’Île Orleans, Québec.
Nicolas l’Ainses Bonin was born in 1603, La Rochelle, France. He married Johanne (Ann) Brunereau (1600-) in 1620 in France. Nicolas died on 28 February 1691, la Couarde-sur-Mer, Charente-Maritime, France. Their son was Louis Bonin dit Saint Martin. Nicolas was born in 1625, Saint Martin, Ile de Ré, Charente-Maritime, Poitou-Charentes, France, and died 7 January 1668, Ile de Ré, Charente-Maritime, Poitou-Charentes, France Subsequent Bonins in this line were born and died in Québec.
For perspective, in 1608, Samuel de Champlain, with the support of King Henry IV (king of France until 1610), founded the Habitation de Québec (now Québec City) and made it the capital of New France. Louis XVI, the last king of France before the fall of the monarchy during the French Revolution, was born 23 August 1754, and died 21 January 1793.
The first generation includes Virginie Agnis Gauthier and her siblings, children of Möise Gauthier and Marie Leodie Élodie (Léa) Bonin dit Dubonnet.

Léa Bonin came from a family of nine, the children of Augustin (Auguste) Bonin and Marie Landry.
The parents of Virginie’s father, Möise Gauthier, were Pierre Gauthier, born 17 August 1814, Sainte Anne des Plaines, Terrebonne, Québec, and Narcisse Anaclet Brisebois Renoche, born 12 June 1821, Saint-Eustache, Deux-Montagnes, Québec. The parents of Virginie’s mother, Marie Leocadie Élodie (Léa, Lydia) Bonin dit Dubonnet, were Augustin (Auguste) Bonin, born 8 December 1818, Saint Esprit, Montcalm, Québec, died 3 January 1898, Québec, and Marie Landry, born about 1822, died 27 July Montréal, Québec. They married on 8 November 1842, St-Lin, Québec. and had nine children, including Léa.
The parents of Pierre Gauthier were Antoine Anthyme Gauthier, born 3 June 1773, Terrebonne, Québec, died 3 September 1851, St-Jérôme, Québec, and Marie Agathe Huot de Saint Jerome, born in 1768, Terrebonne. They married 27 February 1797, in Terrebonne, and had three sons, including Pierre. Marie’s first marriage was to Pierre Letendre (1752-1831). Antoine died 3 September 1851, St-Jêrôme, Québec; Marie Agathe died 29 July 1806, Nicolet, Québec.
The parents of Pierre Gauthier’s wife, Narcisse, were François Brisebois Renoche, born 12 July 1780, Pierrefonds, Québec, and Marie Archange Cardinal, born 5 August 1788 and died 24 July 1848, Saint-Augustin, Québec. They had three children, including Narcisse.
The parents of Augustin (Auguste) Bonin were Alexis Bonin, born 26 August 1771, Berthier-en-haut, Comté de Berthier, Québec, and Marie-Josephte Payet dit Saint Amour, born 22 February 1789, L’Assomption, Québec. They married 29 February 1808, Saint-Espirit, Comté de Montcalm, Québec, and had two children, including Auguste. Alexis died 25 October 1849, Montréal, Québec.
The parents of Augustin’s wife, Marie Landry, were Louis Landry, born 22 October 1789, L’Assomption, Québec, and Marie Rosalie Chevaudier dit Lepine, born 7 August 1795, Saint Paul de Lavaltrie, Québec. They married in 10 April 1820, church of Saint-Henri, Mascouche, Québec, and had four children, including Marie.
The parents of Antoine Anthyme Gauthier were Andre-Joseph Gauthier, born 24 Nov 1741, Terrebonne, Québec, and Marie Geneviève Paradis, born 24 Mar 1746, Montmorency, Québec. They married on 17 June 1765, Saint-Charles-sur-Richelieu, Québec, and had two children, including Antoine.
