- there will be time enough for spring
- with its demand for attention,
- its salvo of bloom,
- a heralding heard by birds and bees alike,
- a call to arms and valentines.
- but this, this is the time of the spider,
- whose memory of the ancients is more recent than our own,
- whose web is a model for the path of life,
- for the way stars are held in the loom of the sky.
- this then, this
- is the time to let ourselves be found in an ancient maze
- guided, as we always have been,
- through canals lined with luminaria and orbs
- to the horizon over which is space and the beginning of time,
- a new year.
