2 Birds

* I think it was an Osprey; the bird-book is more precise: Pandion haliaetus, called by some the “Fish Eagle,” who might have flown into these airs, over this river, and given me pause. With frustrated awe, I went from bird to book, and lost the bird, but found myself, somewhere in between. * Of the Belted Kingfisher, however, I am most certain—her breast band, her loud chatter (which is rather a chitter— the book describes it as a rattle), and all the rest: Megaceryle alcyon. I have seen her often here, here again to greet me! to cheer me— Wake up Chitter. I am free and swift Chitter! Open your eyes!
