Ravanahatha

Caṇḍa Ānanda had a ravanahatha, a bowed instrument that he had made himself from a gourd. After dark, people could hear this instrument being played and they could hear Lilavati sing. Caṇḍa Ānanda said, “I don’t play the ravanahatha; it plays me.” Caṇḍa Ānanda also said, “I play whatever Lilavati sings.”
