Being self-conscious

A human being is self-conscious. Being conscious, you can examine yourself, and you can examine your examiner. This gives us the ability to understand ourselves and the flexibility to change. If you see you have a gap, then you can start to fill it in. After each embarrassment, you can determine to do better. The first summer session, Emperor Max was often embarrassed. The fact that he chose not to show it, didn’t mean that he ignored it. To maintain his self-respect, he not only ignored the embarrassment but strove to do better.
