Slavic February

For the Polish, February is luty— “harsh, cruel, severe.” For Croatians, vèljača— “month in which days get longer.” For Ukrainians, February is лютий (liutyi)— “fierce, savage.” For Macedonians, February is Сечко (Sečko)— “month of ice.” For the Czechs, February is leden— also “month of ice.”
