For the Polish, October is październik— “month of shoving and dragging.” For Croatians, lȉstopād— “month of falling leaves.” For Ukrainians, October is жовтень (zhovten)— “month of yellowing leaves.” For Macedonians, October is Листопад (Listopad)— “month of leaves falling.” For the Czechs, October is říjen— “month of rutting.”
