Gathering water chestnuts Tom Sharp

The youngest girl, waiting to marry, wants to be sure they honor their ancestors. They gather water chestnuts on the stream’s southern banks. They gather freshwater algae in the stream’s shallow waters. They gather these in basket and hampers and carry them in jars and pots. They offer them beneath the window of their ancestral hall. The youngest girl officiates; she doesn’t want anything to go wrong.
