Coal miners in western Virginia told a story about a metal capsule exposed at the end of a deep side tunnel. It had been completely encased in coal but it was shiny and unscratched. The thing is that the first miner to touch the thing died instantly, and the miners who dragged his body away felt, to a man, an electric tingle. Rather then tell management about it, they rigged a charge to collapse the tunnel and put up a sign indicating poisonous air to discourage opening it up again.
