A schoolboy in Normal, Illinois, made an unusual dare that led to an elaborate challenge that continues to concern parents and teachers with boys at Prairieland Elementary. Pig farms in the area attract house flies, fruit flies, sewer flies, and blowflies. These flies are all around the school. During recess, Joey Basil saw a house fly land on the cheek of his friend Tommy and bet that the fly would fly in less than a minute. Well it stayed so Tommy won the bet. The boys developed a point system. A fruit fly was one point, house fly two, sewer fly three, and blowflies were six points because they are the worst. A boy got the points for a fly if it stayed 15 seconds and double points if it stayed for 30. They called themselves flyers, and said that Tommy had the best fly face.
