Intelligence agencies

At least eighteen agencies in the United States make up its “intelligence community.” Over a thousand government organizations and almost two thousand private companies are involved in covert and clandestine operations. Other countries also have many intelligence agencies not counting their secret police organizations. It’s hard to imagine that all of these have useful roles. It’s well-known that when a secret intelligence agency becomes known, then another agency is secretly created that can operate with secrecy. The new agency is funded by a classified black budget. Meanwhile, the original agency has to maintain appearances with its original budget. There are suburbs in Maryland in which 98% of the working men and women are employed in the intelligence community; however, they can’t talk about it. There’s no way to tell how many of them work in well-known agencies and how many work in covert agencies.
