Petty nationality

Petty thief, Rich Macduffy, having been arrested for an attempted purse snatching, told the police, “You can’t nab me. I’m a citizen of Macduffyland, which exists around me within a three-yard radius, so you have no jurisdiction!” Brought before a judge, Rich declared that he would submit only if the court followed the laws and constitution of Macduffyland. Asked for a copy of these laws, Rich said, “It says in the constitution that a free man shall not be forced to strike the match to light the pyre below his own feet. This is without regard to how he came to be tied to the stake.” He paused, and then he said, “I interpret that metaphorically.”
