Near Falta, West Bengal, fishermen in the foggy morning were surprised by an unusual form of precipitation—salad greens started falling from the sky all around their boat. This was reported in Aajkaal on 16 April 1984, which quotes one of the fishermen: “It lasted about six minutes— spinach, arugula, endive, cabbage, and different kinds of lettuce— and when it was over, the water seemed to boil, and hundreds of large catfish ate it all up.”
