Giant stuffed animal ordinance

In Kewanee, Illinois, a local ordinance prohibits within the city limits the sale or gifting of giant stuffed animals, such as large teddy bears. Researchers have traced this ordinance to a former mayor whose had an irrational fear that a stuffed animal large enough that small man could hide in could pose a threat to a child, particularly his young daughter. People in Kewanee have told stories to support this ordinance. One father claimed that he had to brutalize a giant teddy bear given to his daughter by an aunt with his number 9 golf club because it showed signs of life.
