Yogic cleansing

Fairly common is the yogic practice of cleansing the nasal passages with water, thread, or a strip of cloth. Yogi Pani Puki of Calcutta went much much further. Puki learned to pass a strip of fine linen through his nasal passages and, after intense effort and training, while relaxing his whole body and holding tightly to the end that entered his nose, he swallowed the other end, passed it through his intestines and out through his anus. Puki swallowed about forty feet of cloth before it reappeared, when he decided not to join the ends to complete the circle from anus to nose and pass that join in a complete circle, since that would take a lot more patience and forbearance. Nevertheless, he claimed that this practice calmed his body and vitalized all seven of his chakras.
