The engineers and ground crews always check the plane but I do my own checks anyway if only to steady my nerves. The main thing is how it handles on taxi, takeoff, and flight. No, the main thing is landing in one piece. The rest is all gravy. Do all my controls work? Are all the gauges reading normal? Am I hearing anything I shouldn’t? Did I kiss my wife goodbye?
