Range wars

A rancher who ran his cattle on public land felt as though he had a right to it. Privilege thinks it has the right to be preserved. Otherwise, ownership seems arbitrary, a matter of convention, and undeserved. Meanwhile, homesteaders paid for each acre with their sweat and blood.
