The Hospital Auxiliary’s Cheri Cutham runs the annual geranium sale on Memorial Day weekend to support and serve hospital staff. The ladies put a lot of work into this event each year, potting pink, red, and white geraniums in four and a half inch pots. The proceeds help provide stickers that can identify children in car seats so that the county can care for them if they’re involved in a car accident. Cheri’s job includes publicity, providing cuttings, pots, and potting soil, wrangling volunteers to grow the plants, and managing the two-day sale. Each year, Cheri’s small house on the corner of Dewitt and Eugene is surrounded by a sea of geraniums. Mr. Cutham, Bill, would have been proud.
