Hastings, Michigan

Pastor Bryan kept office hours each morning at the Methodist church across the street from the country courthouse, except on Sundays, since services were at 9:30. It was easy for him to sympathize with his parishioners suffering from job losses, deaths, and illnesses since he’d been through similar life-changing events. Being a pastor wasn’t Bryan’s first career choice, nor was serving in Hastings. He had only one more four-year appointment before he could retire. His joke was “Serve in Hastings, repent in leisure.”
