- Orion is introduced to us
- as “the hunter.”
- (You can see the mountain
- in the night sky of your mind / over time.
- You can walk its trails
- only with the barefeet of your heart.)
- Hunting & game do play a part here;
- the dweller is the lover
- & the beloved looks back at him
- through this foghorned mystery of survival
- offering timeless present.
- Feel the breath come through nose & mouth,
- align it with the prey, prayer
- released like an arrow through the sunlight.
- Blood like the animal’s growl, activates the state
- Bone holds up, stays after, speaks to living past death.
- Meat & hide are the hunter’s realm, they say.
- I think he dreams of dragon’s fire.
- Above all, we are creatures of the imagination.
- As sure as starlight, he searches for the One.
- Praise & beware: Orion rises in the night
- in the twinkling of an eye . . .
