About this book

I believe in people and feel that their uncelebrated behaviors are worth consideration. Maybe these can tell us more than studied and practiced behaviors what kind of creatures we are.

I have not intended to make this list a complete catalog of human behaviors, nor would I claim that these behaviors are unique in the animal kingdom. Moreover, I have chosen not to write about autonomic processes, or about things that people do but that we tend not to approve of.

The cover features my pen and pencil drawing of Kukulcán at Chichén Itzá from a photo by Alastair Rae.
