The prince’s lovers run on tiptoes into his rooms, like the Pleiades climbing in the east. I’ve worked all day and into the night; my lot is not like theirs. The starlets are insignificant—only points of light, but they trace pretty patterns in the sky. My head is heavy as my duties, trying hard and growing gray.
