The river has tributaries. Likewise, my young man leaves his hometown and me, he returns, he leaves again, and he doesn’t take me with him. Small islets of the river disappear when the river rises. Likewise, he returns, he doesn’t remember me, he leaves, and I am left alone. The river changes course. Likewise, my lover returns and he doesn’t come see me or think of me at all, and both of us sing a sad song.
江有汜,之子归,不我以。 不我以,其后也悔。 江有渚,之子归,不我与。 不我与,其后也处。 江有沱,之子归,不我过。 不我过,其啸也歌。
