Quiet maiden (literal translation)

The quiet maiden, so fair, awaited me at the city’s corner. I loved her, yet could not see her, so I scratched my head, hesitating. The quiet maiden, so lovely, gave me a red reed pipe. The red reed pipe shone brightly, and I rejoiced in her beauty. From the pasture she brought a tender reed, truly beautiful and unique. It was not the reed itself that was beautiful, but the gift from the beautiful maiden.
