Your skin is clean and smooth, cool as the moon. Wind spreads your fragrance throughout the palace. Moonlight shines on your hair, scattered on your pillow. You aren’t sleeping; I hold your hand. Stars rotate across the river; the palace is silent. The night is deep but will soon be over. Not everything is this easy; not all change is for the better.
