Drinking wine at the red pavilion, I waited for the moon to rise. I wished I had a good job at the jade palace on the moon. I wanted to ride the wind to apply for it, but I was worried it would be too cold. I danced in the shadow of the moonlight and felt as though I were with the gods. I wanted the moon to shine on the sleepless and banish hatred from the world. It seems that we are always out of sync. The moon shines only when we’re apart. As the moon waxes and wanes, people separate and reunite, their sorrows coming and going. It’s hard for anything to be perfect. I wish you a long and happy life. We’re thousands of miles apart, but together we share the moon’s beauty.
