若言琴上有琴声，放在匣中何不鸣？ 若言声在指头上，何不于君指上听？

Qin poetry (literal translation)

If you say that the sound is on the qin, why doesn’t it sound when it is placed in the box? If you say that the sound is on the fingers, why don’t you listen to it on your fingers?
