Evolved squirrels

Reports of strange behaviors of black squirrels in North Bethesda have become common. Neighbors have observed them biting off small branches and using them to shoo birds from their nests, and claim they gather in groups to gang up on cats. Betty Smith, a naturalist, is reported to have claimed, “They’re not mutants; all the black squirrels are behaving the same. I think they’ve evolved.”
