Song of an abandoned woman Tom Sharp

My betrothed abandoned me but I have remained chaste. I sew my silks in the daylight and listen to the rats that burrow into my wall at night. I can’t sue; I dare not complain. I’m afraid to leave my rooms, for my skirts would leave a trail in the dew that always lies beneath my cold wet feet.
