A Young Man’s Journey · Letter to a distant person (literal translation)

Last year, when we said goodbye, outside the gates of Yuhang, snow fluttered like poplar catkins. This year, spring has ended, and the poplar catkins are like snow, yet I still haven’t seen you return home. Drinking wine, I draw the curtains to invite the bright moon, wind and dew seep through the window screens. Just like Chang’e pitying a pair of swallows, their light clearly shines on the slanting painted beams.
